It’s estimated only 5 to 8 percent of pets have microchips, so VVAPL is encouraging pet parents to act during MARCH MICROCHIP MADNESS. During the entire month, the humane society is microchipping pets for only $10, which includes implanting the chip and registration. Microchipping is done during regular business hours Tuesday – Thursday 9am to 4:30pm and Friday – Saturday 9am to 2:30pm. No appointment is necessary. Not sure if your pet has a microchip? We’ll scan your pet at no charge to check.
Microchips only work, though, if the chip is registered and the pet’s owner’s registration information is kept up-to-date. Pet parents MUST keep their information current. It’s also recommended you scan your pet once a year to make sure the microchip is working properly. Your vet can scan your pet as part of their yearly exam. You can also bring your pet to VVAPL, and we’ll scan your pet at no charge. It only takes a second.
