VVAPL Blog

For the fourth year, Baldy Mesa Elementary School in Phelan celebrated Animal Awareness Month with a donation drive for VVAPL Humane Society.  The school kicked off their event with a student rally featuring VVAPL Humane Society Ambassador Dog Millie.  Donation drive coordinator, second grade teacher Tammy Fronsman, added some fun with a contest between the upper classes and lower classes.

Drive coordinator Fronsman noted overwhelming acts of selflessness by the students, teachers and staff, with this year’s drive being the most successful.  “We are always touched by every donation,” said Terry Saenz, Media & Community Relations Director.  “Whether it’s a few pennies or a large item, it all comes from a heart wanting to help our animals, and we are thankful beyond words.”

Mrs. Abdalla’s first grade class won the lower-class honors, and Mrs. Hissam’s third grade class won the upper-class honors.  The winning classes enjoyed an ice cream sundae party and will design and color a new animal awareness banner for the coming school year.  In addition, Saenz, Ambassador Dog Millie and Adelanto Animal Care and Control presented the Animal Safety/Responsible Pet Ownership program as a special thank you.

VVAPL Humane Society is extremely grateful to the students, teachers and staff for their generous donations to help us care for the many animals that come through our doors.  We give you a big WOOF! WOOF! MEOW! And Two Paw Up!
