Rotary Club and VVAPL Form Purr-fect Partnership

Love of community and the desire to give back is why many people join Rotary clubs.  Members share ideas and work together on projects near and dear to their hearts, funded by the monthly donations of club members.  This year the Rotary Club of the High Desert is helping pets in a new way.  You might say it’s the purr-fect project.  The club is sponsoring two monthly cat adoptions at VVAPL Humane Society.

Rotary Club Past President and Project Chair Steve Myers is thrilled to help 24 cats find their forever homes FREE of charge, which includes the cat’s vaccines and spay/neuter.  The program is geared for harder to place adult cats, which are often passed over for kittens.  As volunteer cat socializers at VVAPL, Myers and his wife Linda know the difficulties some cats have finding homes.  “Our goal,” said Myers, “is to help older cats, shy cats, those that prefer to be the only pet, and cats surrendered by their owners get back in homes as soon as possible.”

“We’re excited about this partnership,” said Terry Saenz, Media & Community Relations Director.  “This program will absolutely give our cats an extra boost in finding homes.”

The Rotary Club of the High Desert meets every Wednesday at 7 a.m. at the Denny’s on Main Street in Hesperia.
