Austin, a 2-year-old purebred Cocker Spaniel, came to VVAPL Humane Society as a stray. His right eye was inflamed and had a discharge. The humane society’s veterinarian determined Austin’s eyelashes were pointed in the wrong direction, towards his eye instead of away from it. As a result, Austin’s eyelashes were rubbing against his cornea causing extreme discomfort. Left untreated the condition could result in infections and an ulcerated cornea.
Fortunately, Austin’s condition was treatable. VVAPL’s veterinarian Dr. Velasco performed eye repair surgery, and funds from the LifeSaver Medical Fund paid for the over $600 in medical costs. Not long after recuperating, Austin was adopted by Carolina, who grew up with Cocker Spaniels and fell in love with Austin as soon as she saw him.
Thank you Carolina for giving Austin his forever home and to everyone who helped make the surgery possible by donating to the LifeSaver Medical Fund.
